All global trends are indicating that advertisements won’t be going anywhere. In fact, they are projected to become even more prominent, penetrating every aspect of our lives. So, receiving higher education with a specialization in marketing is becoming more and more popular from day to day.

And, you can easily see why it’s so. Advertisement is a relatively stable field, and the professional competencies that people get from finishing a marketing degree will always be in demand. Additionally, the young learners significantly amend their transferrable skills, such as critical research, custom writing, creative problem-solving, collaboration, among many others.

Of course, another appealing aspect of a marketing degree is the diversity of employment. People that completed university marketing courses will have the possibility to work in anything from creating websites to brands, logos, slogans, TV ad scripts, ad scenarios, video materials, promotion strategies, and on and on. So, let’s examine what options are available to young marketing specialists.

Tried and Tested Positions

The most common route for marketing degree graduates is going for a position in either a dedicated advertising agency or a big brand company with own marketing department. The jobs that are available in such places are common nine-to-fives that usually include overtime whenever a big project is due. Due to the nature of the field and how it is reliant upon the dates of marketing strategy rollouts, the work is very deadline-specific.

The marketing roles that graduates will, most likely, take on during their work at such places are assistant, specialist, planner, consultant, executive, director, and, of course, finishing with the highest position – Chief Marketing Officer. In these agencies mentioned above and marketing departments, marketing graduates will be able to fully experience all of the studied topics in real-life situations: no information learned goes to waste.

Usually, big agencies and marketing departments are further separated into the most relevant for the respective company teams. For example, web marketing, brand image creation, international marketing, mobile advertisement, and many-many more. It allows people to become specialists in specific subfields of advertisement.

Of course, marketing as an industry is always dependent on the success and stability of other industries, so, by working in a big company or ad agency, recent marketing graduates increase their general knowledge. By delivering their marketing knowledge and competencies to other industries and getting acquainted with the latter, the young specialists become competent, all-around professionals with a comprehensive knowledge base.

Untypical Jobs

Nonetheless, some young marketing specialists consider the career route described above as a pretty dull one. Because many chose the advertisement field due to its creative potential, some opt to go for unconventional jobs for marketing graduates.

In actuality, the skills that people receive after finishing a marketing degree really are invaluable. Why? Because so many job opportunities open up for people with the degrees in question that it feels like it’s a magic ticket straight to employment. Let’s look at least at the job areas that are available straight after graduation.

Firstly, PR – it is relatively adjacent to the marketing field, but it is still something different. Then there is social work, a good portion of people start working for non-profit organizations to raise awareness for various important social causes. Of course, with relevant knowledge, the field of sales becomes open to marketing specialists too!

For extra creative folk, there are whole industries that are on the lookout for young marketing professionals that will also combine other duties and responsibilities. The industries which include PR job, marketing job, accounts & finance jobs, hospitality & catering jobs, dietitians & Nutritionists Job Services, etc.

One of the defining features of the marketing field is that it’s highly adaptive and open to change. It’s not afraid of integrating new ideas and evolving into something else quite rapidly, which is why this field has a definite leg-up on many other conservative and retrospective industries.

Future Possibilities

Talking about change and evolution, as of now, the scene is being heavily influenced by software development, big data, and smartphone industries. Their big prevalence in today’s public life gave birth to new marketing-related positions:

  • Creative Tech Coordinator. A marketing professional that also understands all of the company’s technology assets. The person utilizes the knowledge to conceive tech solutions for various marketing issues.
  • Cultural Specialist. There is a great need for people who can adapt global products and make it localized and appropriate for different areas in the world.
  • Smartphone Marketing Professional. The name is self-explanatory: more and more people are exclusively using their phones, which is a medium that has to have specially developed advertisements for it.

An Unbelievable Opportunity

No matter the direction you approach the topic with, marketing is an amazing field to get into and settle in professionally. Numerous employment options and the positive trends that being a marketing graduate shortly is a great prospect!
