Internal linking is one of the important and easiest approaches to rank your website on Google. Google bots are likely to index your website and the new blogs if you follow the internal linking strategy. Basically, this strategy is used to make the website navigation process smoother for the audience. Internal linking refers to the process of redirecting your website visitors from one page to the other pages of the website. In simple terms, you insert a link that drives your audience to another page within your domain.

Earlier, Google didn’t focus on internal links. But, with the algorithm updates, experts suggest that internal linking is a crucial factor in determining your search ranking. Google is now focusing more on quality content and user experience. By building the internal linking campaign, you make it easier for your audience to locate the other pages of your website quickly. Overall, it simplifies the navigation process. Let’s see how important internal linking is for your SEO campaigns.

Importance of Internal Links for SEO

Google considers the links within your content to find out how your website pages are related and how valuable they are. By connecting your website pages with internal links, you tell Google how your website content is related. Here’s how you can boost your SEO with the Internal linking strategy.

Connection Between Content

Google Bot is responsible for crawling your web pages by running a check on your website’s internal and external links. The bot begins its search from the homepage. It checks the homepage and follows all the internal links from the homepage.

They check out the posts, pages, and other content that your homepage is linking to. Basically, internal linking helps Google to understand:

  • The value of your content
  • The connection between your website’s posts and pages
  • Relevancy of the posts

Following this method, Google bots discover all the pages on your website and form a connection between them. It understands the website structure and prioritizes your website in search rankings.

Value of Internal Links

The homepage of a website has the highest link value since it is the page that receives the majority of backlinks. That being said, all your blog posts and pages will have a higher link value if the link to these blogs comes from the homepage.

Note that Google bots are likely to discover your new blogs and pages faster if you link to them from the homepage. Internal linking for SEO campaigns is important as it helps Google bots find your website pages, understand the hierarchy of your domain, and rank it accordingly in the search engine. As mentioned before, Google prioritizes high-quality websites that share relevant content. By adopting the internal link strategy, you develop a connection between your web pages. This has a positive impact on your search ranking as Google considers your website valuable for the audience.

 Create Internal Linking Campaigns

When you write a new blog post that is related to your other posts, you must consider linking these posts. You can do it by adding some anchor text within the blog or giving a mention of the other post link at the end of the post such as: “Also Read (the link to your other blog)”.

The basic idea is to focus more on your main pages such as your service page or the homepage, where you want to drive the maximum traffic. By skipping the internal linking strategy, you are making it super complicated for your website to get indexed in the search engines.
