Colourful packaging that stands out

Opening a package isn’t a mere occurrence, it’s an experience. This experience has gained a dedicated following over YouTube in the form of ‘unboxing’ videos. Of course, the audience is interested in the product that the package contains. But the way it’s packaged substantially enhances the anticipation attached to it.

It won’t be an exaggeration to say that the packaging is an extension of the product itself. You can’t create a spectacular product and present it in mediocre packaging. When it comes to products, customers tend to judge a book by its cover. Ergo, a dull packaging will invite an underwhelming response.

In today’s digital age, social media mentions are an invaluable currency for your brand. Even three seconds of exposure on a sensational social media star’s social platform can skyrocket your demand. Creative, out-of-the-box packaging is one way to make your product enticing. In this post, we’re sharing some ways you can make your packaging appealing.

Personalise it

It’s quite thrilling to receive a mass-produced product with a personalised touch. Call it vanity or simple appreciation for the extra efforts, but no can resist the delight of personalisation.

There are several ways you can personalise the packaging for your customers. Writing a personalised note thanking your customers for the purchase is one of the most popular ways. Even fashion pioneers like Marc Jacobs and Lily Alridge adopt this method for their product launches.

However, this option won’t be feasible if you have a large-scale production. In that case, you can get generic thank you insert printed in bulk.

For certain products, you can consider directly personalising the product containers. In the past, Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer and Nutella came out with containers embossed with an individual’s name.

Bespoke boxes

You can really go to town when it comes to boxes. Packaging your product in an ugly cardboard box is a big no-no. Influencers are likely to create an aesthetically pleasing flat lay or knolling for their followers. The chances of your product making the cut will rise exponentially with a stylish box. Rhombus Packaging is well-versed with a diverse range of packaging and offers custom packaging solutions.

In addition to aesthetics, a good box also facilitates product use. For instance, a popular supplements company creates a single-pull supplement box that’s easy to use and looks lovely on a pantry shelf. Another great example is a banana drink that comes in a banana-like peelable outer packaging. The possibilities are endless.

Create layers

Besides visual appeal, ideal packaging also serves as a protective outer layer for a product. Using multiple layers of packaging is a suitable way to ensure your products makes it safely through transit. Depending on your product, you can use a combination of plastic sleeves, boxes, bubble wraps and so on to create secure packaging.

Layers can also be used to further amplify a customer’s excitement. You can incorporate delicate tissue papers, custom-made confetti or vibrant packing peanuts.

Get witty

Design and illustrations are key components for nice engaging packaging. You can get witty with words and include a small message or one-liners to make your packaging more engaging.

Incorporate colours & patterns

Colours have a huge influence on how we perceive objects. Different colours have the ability to evoke different emotions. For instance, neutral ivory induces a calming feeling, while a bright yellow exudes joy. The right colours for your packaging will depend on your brand and the kind of emotional engagement you desire.

The colours and patterns don’t have to be limited to the outside box. For instance, Bath and Bodyworks deliver its products in a simple brown box. But when you open it, the insides are printed with their classic blue and white plaid pattern. Shop custom boxes to make your brand stand out.

Great packaging is an opportunity to express your brand values and advertise your product. We hope these tips help you make the most of this opportunity!
