When it comes to closing sales, making progress, and the work you create – it is your team carrying the load. If you are not taking care of that team, you give them no reason to stay in the company.
Talent retention is something that all businesses should consider since hiring and firing can be very detrimental to the company budget.
You should ensure your employees have a few things in your office or working environment.
Onboarding
This is more than just about the working environment; this is about how you treat your staff. While many companies do feel that adding new team members to an already established team is a great way to see if they sink or swim. It can be detrimental to the progress that they make.
It would help if you always looked to have the highest quality of onboarding, training, and plenty of meets and greets to check the chemistry between the team members.
It is more difficult for smaller companies to provide long onboarding processes. However, you can still offer the opportunity for new employees to sit in on and meetings, check through company files and procedures, and even shadow their co-workers.
Comfort and accessibility
It should be as standard as you make sure your team members are comfortable at all times. But you can take that one step further and make sure that you have everything to make your office building accessible. Not only should you be catering to visible disabilities, but you should be catering to invisible disabilities too.
Ensure that you have a loop system for hearing aids, a Sheridan Lifts installation or regular maintenance on your current lift, accessibility tools, and an accessible application process.
Collaboration
Your team should be able to collaborate and communicate freely. Of course, you will not always have time to facilitate the team, but they should feel they can do this themselves. You can create dedicated communication platforms for new projects, include co-workers across the board in the appropriate email chains, and open that up to discussion with more than just the core team when there are new opportunities to explore options within the business.
Learning
Your team should have a positive attitude towards learning more and progress in their personal and professional lives. You can look at where you can implement workplace learning opportunities and experiment with different levels of knowledge.
Employees typically 10 to thrive and perform in an increased capacity when they realize that a company supports them through the learning journey.
Hosts training in both formal and informal learning environments and offer the opportunity to more than just the team members that it would benefit immediately.
Your team members should feel confident and happy to create a workspace that they are delighted to be in. this might include decorating their desk or office space to suit their personality and style. This isn’t always possible, certainly not in hot-desking environments; but it can mean that your staff feels more valued and at home.
