What are biodegradable plastic bags?

Biodegradable plastic bags are made of plastic that decomposes naturally back into the environment when the natural micro-organisms that are found in the environment metabolize and break down the structure of the biodegradable plastic. The final outcome results in one that is less harmful to the environment as compared to traditional plastic packaging.

Biodegradable plastic bags are usually made up of bio-plastics which are plastics that are derived from renewable raw materials. There are usually two types of plastics that are made from renewable raw materials. The two types of biodegradable plastic are usually solid and injection moulded. The solid form of plastic is usually used for items such as water bottles, leaf collection bags and food containers.

Here are 4 Advantages of Biodegradable Plastic Bags from an Environment Point of View

1. Reduced Carbon Emission

Using biodegradable plastics ensures the minimal amount of emissions of carbon into the air in the process of manufacturing bioplastics. The manufacturing of normal plastics releases about 4 tons of carbon emissions into the atmosphere whereas biodegradable plastics only tend to release about 0.8 tons of carbon emissions which add to the greenhouse effect and global warming.

    2. Consumes less energy

Manufacturing biodegradable plastic needs less energy and does not involve recycling any fossil fuels. Traditional plastics tend to require a lot more energy in terms of production as well as more burning of fossil fuels. More bioplasts can be produced as less energy is needed which also reduces the amount of pollution in the environment.

      3. Reduced Waste and Less Landfill Area

Non–biodegradable plastics are brought to the landfills to dispose of them. This tends to make the landfill area that could have been better utilised derelict. Using bioplastics eliminates the need for any landfills as these plastics are absorbed by the soil and converted into humus or compost.

      4. Easily Recyclable

Bioplastics take a lot less time to break down when disposed and can also be easily recycled as well as being non-toxic which contain a lot of harmful chemicals, especially if burnt.

Here are 3 Advantages of Biodegradable Plastic Bags from a Business Point of View

      1. Similar Quality Like Regular Plastic Bags

Other than a bit of a higher cost, biodegradable plastic bags retain the same kind of quality as standard plastics do as well as having less of an impact on the environment.

        2. Appealing Design

Biodegradable plastics are also as easily mouldable as traditional plastic and can be cut and designed in various appealing ways to suit your needs.

          3. Offering Biodegradable Plastic Bags to Your Customers Creates a Positive Image About Your Business

Offering your customers biodegradable plastic bags creates a positive image of your business as a responsible and mature business to a rapidly growing environmentally aware customer base.

Biodegradable plastic bags are becoming increasingly popular nowadays due to an increased awareness of environmental problems and global warming concerns amongst people.
