Rewarding staff is important. If you don’t reward them and they don’t feel like they’re getting job satisfaction, they’ll stop putting in 100% and might even look to work at another business. Finding a good medium can be hard because you don’t want to make things too easy. There are different kinds of rewards you can give out and make the workplace feel like a good place to work. Here are some tips on rewarding that might make you look differently at staff rewarding.
Trust
They need to be able to trust you, and you need to be able to do the same for them. Trusting them to get the work done is important. It means you don’t breathe down their neck or micromanage. Instead, you let them get the work done when they want to do it. As long as it’s done by the various deadlines, it doesn’t matter. You can make them feel way more valuable by letting them come to work when they want. Give them the flexibility to get the job done. Of course, some workplaces can’t do this. However, trust is still important. Trusting your workforce and having them trust you helps everyone feel less constrained. It might not come naturally, but it’s certainly something worth working on long-term.
Achievable Targets
Targets are one thing. However, the internet is often awash with stories about people being set ridiculous targets that are unachievable. They’re usually unachievable because hitting them would result in a bonus. If you want to set targets, make sure there is a clear reward at the end of it and that the target itself can be hit. You need to set them so that they do stretch your team, but not that they can never be hit. If you have achievable targets, your workforce will work harder to hit them, and they’ll feel like they’re making progress along the way.
A Special Presentation
When one of your team has worked with you for a certain amount of time, you must celebrate. A milestone might be twenty years or so. It depends on how long you’ve been in business. Think about what you can give them in the presentation. A photo book is a great option. You can fill it with snippets of fun and workplace achievements you and the team have achieved over the years. You can look into wholesale photo book printing to get a chunk of these books in at once. It’s a good option if you’re thinking about doing a presentation for multiple staff members. Perhaps they’ve all started simultaneously, or you just think they deserve a presentation.
