Let’s be honest. Although we’re excited about various states and cities in the United States opening up again, it can also be a little overwhelming. If you’re feeling a little hesitant about jumping into the hustle and bustle of life, you’re not alone. Ironically, a great way to safely reconnect with the world is actually to disconnect for a little bit. It’s time for a sweet escape into nature!

Whether it’s going for a long walk every day, swimming in the sea, or searching for cabins in NC (North Carolina) to rent a few weeks out of the year; spending time in nature can assist in alleviating stress from a busy, hectic life. To reap the mental health benefits of spending time in nature, look into renting a space that will give you that opportunity. A log cabin with a view of the mountains and amenities such as a fireplace, hot tub, and modern conveniences, might just be the perfect stress-alleviator that you’ve been looking for.

Additionally, a rental property in nature with plenty of trails and attractions can help to decrease your stress levels and enhance a calmer you. Looking for a vacation rental that fulfills your luxury cabin dream can do wonders for your mental health. So, let’s see some of the mental health benefits of connecting with Mother Nature.

1. Nature inspires your creativity.

Nature is so beautiful. Just look at the material: Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Blue Ridge Mountains, Nantahala River…all beautiful monuments of nature. Nature is truly art itself, and by being surrounded by these amazing sights, you’ll definitely feel inspired to create art of your own.

2. Nature connects to you spiritually.

While you’re out in nature, you’re really able to clear your mind. This is especially helpful for meditations, which can be considered a form of spiritual activity. While also navigating through the outdoors, you’re able to learn small but powerful lessons while witnessing various acts.

For example, seeing that the tree has grown all of its leaves again after a long and lonely winter can teach you to remain faithful in whatever season you’re currently experiencing. Depending on your personal beliefs, you’ll be able to use nature to connect to your faith.

3. Nature can help reduces stress.

We all can use a little quiet time in a world that’s always on the move. Spending time in nature is the perfect way to take a step away and relax without your responsibilities looming over you. There’s no email alerts, no urgent phone calls, no constant updates with news…nothing to buzz you while you’re in bliss. This does wonders for your stress levels, and it’s recommended that you detach into nature as often as you can to keep your stress low.

4. Nature can help improve your quality of sleep.

By embracing natural sunlight, the melatonin produced in your body helps you to settle into a healthy sleep routine. This time in the sun helps you to catch a good night’s rest more naturally.

5. Nature increases mindfulness.

Something about being in nature just gives you a new perspective. You’re able to have a greater sense of appreciation for the smaller things, such as how the river streams for fish and plants alike, or how plants grow time and time again for various species. It’s always good to look at things from a mindful point of view, and being in nature teaches you how to be grateful for any amount of abundance.

In addition to spending time outdoors, a good way to relieve any hesitation to return to the busy movement of life is to speak with a therapist. A great place to find the right therapist is with resources such as WithTherapy. This company works to pair you with the right therapist through a comprehensive search. Once you’re able to find the right connection through this company, you’ll likely find how beneficial a few weeks of treatment can be for you!
