The post-COVID recovery under President Biden has an uphill climb. With many people still suffering from their personal financial situations, industries are slow to amplify production to meet the demands of the market.

There are several ways in which the U.S. Chamber of Commerce believes we can tackle these issues with infrastructure moving forward. If Republicans and Democrats can perform a balancing act to pass legislation, the country might witness some of these changes to the nation’s infrastructure in 2021.

Transportation

During the pandemic, a byproduct of people staying home was a lack of roadway usage. No one traveled. Additionally, upkeep for the roads and bridges essentially stopped as well. This has created an issue was the nation returned to using its bridges, highways, and systems.

As the recovery for this happens, it might be wise to park your car for a while and seek out vehicle storage units. This is true for SUVs, hatchbacks, or crossovers. While the recovery takes place, it’s wise to keep any type of vehicle off damaged roads. A storage unit is an ideal way to do that. That’s because it’s more than just a parking space.

A storage facility can provide a safe and secure location to store a vehicle both short-term and over a long period of time. Many can accommodate an RV, ATV, or even boat storage. Give the transportation system time to make their needed repairs. Meanwhile, keep your motorcycle, classic car, and over valuable safely from vehicle storage.

Communication

The first woman to hold the position of CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is Suzanne Clark. During a recent interview, she outlined several areas of importance that the U.S. needed to focus on regarding infrastructure. A key focal point was going to be on broadband and communication. Now, more than ever, people need access to the internet.

Nearly every small business in America requires it to operate. The nation turned to the internet to operate schools and businesses alike, and this trend doesn’t appear to be slowing down as the pandemic wanes. Look for there to be more public access points and a focus on getting more reliable connections across the nation. WiFi could also make an appearance on more public transportation systems.

Anywhere Operations

Both of these trends show a future in which businesses minimize office space. At the very least, flexibility will play a key role in how infrastructure operates moving forward. These anywhere operations will see office space rental agreements terminated and a search for an office that provides enough space for the smaller capacity.

Additionally, this will make the job market much broader. People will be competing with a much larger pool of people for a position. Handling the rise in time zone complications, cultural change, and overall confusion this could potentially cause will be something that needs to be addressed moving forward.

24-Hour IT Support

Though not directly stated, an outcome from the remote world the coming years are headed towards will require continual upkeep. IT departments will be asked to carry a large portion of the load in maintaining constant connections across the globe. As the president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has stated, the spread of broadband won’t come without its complications.

Indeed, IT will also be asked to increase efficiency, carry a larger workload, and help to reduce costs for a company by mitigating unnecessary expenditures on the growing portion of their business. 2021 and beyond could see a rise in the amount of vacant outdoor parking spaces due to the lack of in-person interaction that will happen. Let’s hope that the projected infrastructure changes will be enough to handle to load.
