● Electric Chainsaws
The electric chainsaws are best suited for novice users, and in my opinion, this type of Chainsaw requires less maintenance, and I don’t have to worry about refilling gas and oil while I am at work. It is also less expensive compared to its gas-powered counterparts.
The most notable drawback when it comes to using electric chainsaws is the difficulty in sourcing power. I found it hard to use electric chainsaws in remote areas due to the lack of power supply.
● Battery-Powered Chainsaws
A battery chainsaw is the most preferred type these days as it is easy to carry around without relying too much on electric power sources, gas, and oil. If you are a user of cordless Chainsaws, all you need to do is charge your battery and begin your work.
I have personally tried the cordless Chainsaw and noticed some drawbacks. These products do not offer power and torque in comparison to gas-powered chainsaws and electric chainsaws.
I also found that these devices need frequent recharging to power up the device which results in loss of time and delays in work.
Chainsaws are also varied based on the position of the handles there is a category of chainsaws that come with a top handle position, which makes them easier to work in tight spaces, so if you have a similar kind of work, you can go with top handle chainsaws.

What should you not do with a chainsaw?
Now that you know the basic functions of the chainsaw, let us discuss things that should not be done using the tool.
● Avoid using the chainsaw close to the ground
This is a common mistake that most users commit unknowingly. If you cut the wood placed on the ground then you might risk sinking the chain bar on the ground.
If the dirt enters the blades of the chains, it can severely damage the tool and render it useless in the long run.
I highly recommend placing the wood above the ground as it can provide clearance for safely using the chainsaw and reduces the chances of making contact with the ground.
● Use the proper lubricant specifically needed for the chainsaw
It is not a good practice to use motor oil or another type of lubricant that is not meant to be used in the chainsaw as it can severely damage the engine of the tool in the long run.

● Avoid refueling the chainsaw when it is hot
If you are an impatient person then this warning is for you. The chainsaws need to be refilled with oil only after the engine has cooled off, otherwise, they can catch fire and burn up the tool.

Ensure that you don’t forget to empty the tank of the old gas as it can lead to corrosion of the carburetor. Most manufacturers recommend this practice as it can extend the life of the chainsaw.

For beginners, I do not recommend the practice of making a cut using the tip of a chainsaw as it is extremely dangerous and has caused several injuries to the user.
The reason to go against the idea of using the tip is that it can result in kickbacks and produce ineffective results.
