Defense attorneys and other legal professionals face a wide range of obstacles when trying to reach their target audience through modern marketing practices. There are, however, some techniques and tips they can use to help make the process easier and more effective in that competitive profession. Keep in mind that consistency is essential. Using proven methods across several channels is the best way to get noticed and become a brand others recognize in their area. Over time, marketing your practice will become easier and can prove to be very fruitful.

Modern vs. Traditional Marketing Practices

Regardless of the industry, marketing one’s company or business can be challenging, especially in law. There are many competing professionals and cities across the country, and it is important to leverage every opportunity available to get the attention of potential clients and the public. Individuals and firms can’t rely on organic traffic alone. They need to use other effective techniques to create multiple ways to reach out to potential clients. Traditional defense attorney marketing practices included publicity segments and commercials on television or radio and securing space on local fixtures such as bulletin boards and benches. Although traditional marketing is still highly effective, especially in some scenarios such as advertising on public and private transportation, it is important not solely to rely on these methods. Today’s modern marketplace demands incorporating modern techniques such as using social media platforms, email communications, and even artificial intelligence or AI.

Using Online Marketing Strategies

The internet has become the primary means for many businesses and industry professionals to reach their target audience and establish themselves in the area. Whether there’s a national campaign or a local strategy, there are a few key elements to address when harnessing online marketing power. When legal professionals take the plunge into the world of online marketing, however, they may want to consider using a marketing company or firm specializing in their particular type of practice. For example, a defense attorney may want to enlist a firm’s services that can incorporate online marketing strategy for bankruptcy attorneys or even defense attorneys. They have experts on board who know how to effectively create a successful campaign that drives traffic to their website or produces organic inquiries via the internet. These types of companies are well worth the investment and can make a vast difference in the amount of business an attorney can receive.

Another highly effective strategy is email marketing. This technique allows a business to collect customer data through various sources such as landing pages, questionnaires, surveys, special events, and blogs. There are many ways to collect potential customer data and then add it to an email marketing campaign. This technique allows the company to send special offers, letters, blog posts, and more to customers added to the campaign. What makes this angle so effective is that it can easily be incorporated into a social media campaign or other online platforms to reach more viewers.

Using Effective Traditional Marketing Practices

There are many ways to use traditional marketing techniques to create a well-rounded strategy. One of the most effective yet low-cost options is a mobile advertisement campaign. Paying people or public transportation to feature a business or professional offering valuable services to the public can get a huge amount of exposure by incorporating this technique. Another option related to transportation is interactive signs in large urban areas. Interactive signs are a hot new marketing technique and provide a way to advertise in front of many curious people throughout the day. Even if interactive signs or LED digital signs aren’t available in a specific area, using the tried-and-true advertising method on bus stop benches and billboards will also work well.

Another traditional marketing Strategy that is effective and inexpensive is creating branded products to give to clients or distributing through third parties or special events. Some ideas include branded pens, water bottles, totes, and office supplies. Although that’s a few examples, many items can easily be branded and used to promote a company’s product or service. Even smaller items can help reach potential clients, such as matches and the ever-popular essential, business cards.

To begin any marketing campaign, decide on a budget and try to stick to it. A great way to stay on track and make the most out of advertising and marketing dollars is to hire professionals to use their talents to make the most out of your efforts. Use as many avenues as possible and consider all the available options that work within the given budget. Over time, effective marketing can boost an attorney’s public persona and create steady clientele that will produce growth and stability. If a firm has seen a plateau in its numbers, it may be time to use new strategies to get the attention of other demographics in the area.
