Automation is a branch of tech that relates to the automatic completion of particular tasks. It’s not a bold statement to proclaim that automation is the most widely used technology in businesses around the world. It’s so widespread that people are probably using it without even realising. A basic example is a system that automatically schedules social media posts and sends them out at certain times. Another example is email automation, sending out emails to every customer that purchases something from your website. You could even dive deeper and look at automation in things like PPC. Most companies use software to automatically bid on keywords when trying to get online ads.
Again, you have lots of software that provides analytical automation for businesses. In essence, the software takes loads of data/information, then automatically creates charts and reports that help you make sense of it. These days, businesses revolve around managing data and making sense of it, helping you identify patterns that can let your business grow. So, analytical automation is extremely crucial.
This is perhaps one of the more exciting and newer examples of automation for businesses. Recently, technology has been developed that allows for automated entry systems. This is mainly used in the self-storage world, with things like Storage Smart Entry technology put in place. The idea is that security locks are Bluetooth-enabled, linking with specific devices. When the device is near the lock, it opens and allows access. The same concept is being used in some office buildings instead of keypads or card swipes. It allows for much faster entry systems while ensuring that security remains tight. Only people with specific devices connected to the system can get in and out, but they don’t have to deal with manually opening any locks or typing in codes.
As you can see, automation is rife in the business world. It’s a technology that really has no cap – we keep seeing new developments year after year. The underlying benefit of automation is that it speeds up business processes and can remove elements of human error. So, it could be worth looking into how you can utilise it in your business.
