The Points That You Shouldn’t Miss in a Good Resume

These are the questions you need to answer before filling out your resume. Always remember that the CV is your first step towards a successful job search; it is, therefore, essential to focus on the offer and on everything that can be put to good use in the new job without neglecting any relevant aspect, including interests, activities and other similar information that contribute to making your profile potentially interesting for the position sought.

Personal data

Personal data is the first information you will need to include on your resume. Then enter all your contact information to be contacted for an interview easily: name and surname, date of birth, telephone (preferably the mobile number), address, e-mail address; link to the LinkedIn profile, any blogs/sites, and other social accounts.

Professional experiences

The professional experience item is the most important element of your resume. It confirms your skills, aptitude for work, and ability to put into practice what you have learned during your studies. 

The rule is always the same, even in this case: always try to be clear and concise. Use a bulleted list to make reading more fluid and highlight important work experiences. 

Start with the most recent, adding the previous ones as you go, enter the company name, the start and end date of the collaboration, and the results achieved. The latter is fundamental: they will speak for you and enhance your path and skills.

Educational experiences

In addition to the qualification, which we have already talked about, including in the CV, other training experiences related to the career path you want to undertake can be very useful in the selection phase. A refresher course, a master’s, or an extra-curricular activity certainly makes your profile even more solid and interesting to be evaluated in the eyes of recruiters.

Language skills

To date, language skills have become fundamental in many sectors. It is good to remember that honesty in a CV is essential. So, try not to lie or inflate your skill level in understanding foreign languages ​​since the possibility of being discovered during the interview is not so remote. And finding yourself in awkward situations would only negatively affect the outcome of your selection. 

It assigns a part dedicated only to linguistic knowledge so that it can be highlighted by indicating precisely the level of understanding achieved.

Technical skills

The technical knowledge or computer skills you have learned during your studies or carrying out specific tasks is no less necessary within the curriculum. Filling out the section relating to this type of skill is essential to demonstrate to recruiters that you have up-to-date and in-depth computer knowledge, useful for the job you will perform. 

You can conveniently group them in a list within your curriculum, specifying the level of mastery achieved using specific software and any certifications obtained.

Professional goals and ambitions

Professional goals summarize your career goals. The combination of this information, along with skills and abilities, can convince employers that you have what it takes to fill the role you are applying for.

First, customize your career goals based on the job position you’re applying for. Once identified, reflect on how your skills, personality, and experiences align with what the company needs and describe them clearly and directly on your resume. Think about your skills and experiences and try to communicate to recruiters how you intend to grow within the company. 

Please don’t go too far. There will be time to address this issue again during the interview.

Consent to the processing of personal data

One of the most common mistakes in writing a resume is forgetting to enter the authorization to process personal data. Inserting it means authorizing the human resources manager to analyze and use the candidate’s data protected by the privacy law. Basically, without that wording, companies could not legally contact you. 

Therefore, it is important to remember to insert it at the bottom of the last page of the CV, with the date and signature.
