Press Release: 5 February 2026. BUSINESS leaders across the West Midlands are being urged to seize the historic opportunity to partner with Invictus Games Birmingham 2027. Momentum is building towards a world-class sporting event that will positively place Birmingham firmly in the international spotlight.

Founded by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex in 2014, the Invictus Games will return to the UK next summer. The Games are a major opportunity for regional organisations to engage with one of the world’s most powerful international movements, and to show their support for the men and women who defend our nation and its allies.

The Games will be hosted by a city where many of the wounded, injured and sick (WIS) service community receive specialist treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine.

With the clock now ticking towards July 2027, a series of business engagement events were held this week, marking the start of a significant programme of collaboration between Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 and the region’s business community.

The Invictus Games is an international adaptive multi-sport event for WIS Armed Forces personnel and veterans. ‘Invictus’ is Latin for ‘unconquered’ or ‘undefeated’. Birmingham 2027 will feature 12 adaptive sports, including for the first time ever; Esports, Laser Run, and Pickleball, and are expected to attract tens of thousands of spectators, with millions more watching worldwide.

Two regional business events took place on 28th January, with sessions at Lilleshall National Sports & Conferencing Centre and Deloitte’s Brindley Square offices in Birmingham. These gatherings brought together Armed Forces Covenant signatories, business leaders, and key stakeholders from the region, to introduce the vision for Birmingham 2027 and discuss how the business community can support the Games.

Tim Munton, Strategic Lead Commercial and Marketing, Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, said: “Birmingham 2027 will bring the eyes of the world to Birmingham and the West Midlands. It is an opportunity to create a lasting impact, bringing together sport, the military and business communities to support the Invictus Games from around the world.

“By partnering with the Games, businesses can play a practical role in supporting recovery and rehabilitation, while aligning with an international sporting event that stands for so much more than sport.

“These events are the start of a wider programme of engagement, where we will invite organisations across the region to explore how they can get involved with the Games.”
