When you think of saving money in business you think of cutting costs on office space, employing fewer full-time employees, outsourcing your services, and much more but you never think about hiring private investigators.

Private investigators are usually called upon when someone expects a partner of cheating right? Yes, sometimes this is the case, but private investigators can be used within a business too and in this article, we will take a look at some of the ways they could help your business save money.

Employee Absenteeism

Everyone pulls a sick day now and again, after all, most of us are overworked but some employees take it too far and go on the sick for months meanwhile the business has to pay them and their replacement. In genuine cases this is ok, but when the business suspects the employee isn’t genuine, they have to make sure before pointing any fingers.

A private investigator can check up on an employee without them knowing and can document the evidence an employer would need to prove that the employee was guilty of wrongdoing.

If an employee was off sick due to back pain for example and the private detective saw them dancing on tables on a night out this evidence could then be sent back to the employer where they would have evidence to bring forward a dismissal.

Employee Fraud

Employee fraud can also be caught by private investigators and is often a service requested by businesses that think an employee has been stealing off them. Employee fraud is hard to prove so you will need an expert to help you. A private detective can also help you recover the money in some instances.

If you suspect an employee of committing fraud against your business it’s better not to confront them but to gather evidence that can be later relied on in court.

Vehicle Fraud

Vehicle fraud is something that costs businesses thousands every year and unlike stealing or faking sickness, vehicle fraud can sometimes happen without the employee thinking too much about it. Your company vehicles can be used outside of work purposes which may not sound too big a deal but if a vehicle is been driven in excess of it’s agreed mileage a company will have fines to pay along with wear and tear bills.

A private investigation company can help you install GPS trackers and monitor the usage of a vehicle outside of work purposes. You can then use this info to share with your staff so that it stops happening or you can take procedures further for dismissal.

Delivering Legal Documents

Legal document delivery can waste valuable resources within your company so a private detective can be used as a process server as many of them are ex-police and understand the importance of these legal documents.

Hiring a private investigator rather than having a member of your staff try and deliver them to others can save their time and put that time towards your business objectives.

Conclusion

Private investigation services in real life are not like the movies and although they do work on cases with cheating spouses and covert investigations, most cases are business-related.

In an ideal world, we wouldn’t have to hire anyone to check up on our staff but unfortunately, we do and if you suspect any wrongdoing in your company a private detective could help.
