Heat resistant materials are being used more and more frequently in a variety of different applications. Fire outbreaks can cause millions in damage and can lead to precious loss of life. It is important for you to consider making use of heat resistant materials around the workplace, and also to put up certain safety precautions. A fire blanket is now widely used and can be used to put out a fire in infancy, before it turns into something serious. They are highly resistant to flames so one can simply position them right above the fire, thus stifling and killing the flame. But, what are the major benefits that it offers? Here are five benefits that you should know about.

1. It Saves Lives

The blanket can actually play a pivotal role in saving people’s lives. In the unfortunate scenario that someone catches fire, the blanket can be thrown over them to quickly kill the flames. The blanket can be simply put over the area that has caught fire, and the flame will quickly die down. But, you should know that these blankets are only effective when putting out small fires or flames. Anything that is too big will not be reduced by the blanket.

2. Can Put Out Electrical Fires

It’s a known fact that putting out an electrical fire is a hard thing to do, and it can lead to devastating consequences. If you have to put out electrical fires, you should consider using fire blankets. These blankets can be put on the area from where the sparks are emanating, and they will quickly subdue the flame. If you don’t have the time to get to a fire extinguisher, especially when you consider the speed with which these fires spread, using a fire blanket is a wise move. You should also train your employees on how to use them.

3. Grease or Kitchen Fires

Similarly, these blankets can also be used for putting out fires in the kitchen or those that can quickly get out of hand. You need to make sure that you have enough blankets around the kitchen so that you can quickly cover up the fire. Remember, the blankets will only work when you know how to cover up the fire properly. If the fire quickly increases and the blanket seems smaller for the flame, you should avoid using it altogether.

4. Ideal for Outdoor Fires

Using fire blankets for stifling outdoor fires is an old strategy, but one that is increasingly effective. Outdoor fires are liable to get out of hand very quickly due to the increased amount of oxygen and the way in which the wind blows. That is one of the main reasons why you should consider putting them out as soon as possible, and using fire blankets is a very effective method. All you have to do is put the blanket on the fire and that’s it! The flame will be extinguished as the supply of oxygen will be removed immediately.

5. Protects Children and Infants

Last but not the least, you should know that these fire blankets can actually prove to be quite effective in protecting infants and children. You can wrap infants or children in these blankets, especially if you have to carry them out of an engulfed area. It’s one of the most common strategies used to prevent any kind of fire damage to children. These blankets are quite effective and as technology has improved, you should know that their weight has decreased dramatically too. They are also much less expensive and readily available in the markets.
