Bryan Cohen carved a path that defied conventional approaches in the ultra-competitive world of telecommunications and media. By blending simplicity with strategic planning, Cohen turned Opn Communications into a global force.

Cohen relentlessly grew a one-man operation into a telecom empire spanning 120 countries by leveraging international relationships, the wisdom of mentors, and a relentless work ethic. His success isn’t just a business venture — it’s a testament to the power of authentic networking and unshakable perseverance.

Why Cohen fueled Opn Communication’s growth with global partnerships

For Cohen, pursuing global partnerships wasn’t entirely a choice. It was the natural result of the influences around him. Coming from a media background enriched by internationally-minded mentors, it made sense to build bridges across borders.

“A lot of the U.S. opportunities came through people my mentors knew,” Cohen explains, “but so much of it was simply hustling and leaning on my international connections. I’d approach people and say, ‘I see that you have people who want telecom or media services here,’ or ‘If you would like to enter this market, I can help.’ It’s really that simple. I don’t try to overcomplicate things.”

This simplicity is the aspect that truly distinguishes Cohen’s approach to business development. He believes complexity is often a trap; the more intricate the processes, the higher the risk of losing value. Instead, he’s built growth around straightforward execution and collaborative partnerships that benefit everyone involved.

Over time, relationships with cable companies, governments, and municipalities enabled Cohen to expand Opn Communication’s presence. Each partnership arose naturally — someone looking for opportunities, someone with a question, a conversation that led to action.

“Governments were impressed by my answers and how I helped,” Cohen shares. “Once we were up and running, each relationship seemed to lead to two more. The work began to snowball. I landed some no-bid work and then expanded into more of that space. Sometimes I even come in to do work after the bid, which can also be quite lucrative.”

The beauty of this network-driven approach is its flexibility. Sometimes Cohen competes; sometimes he collaborates. He’s learned that either can drive growth as long as it fits the context.

“Sometimes you need the drive of competition to push you to create a better market and a better product,” notes Cohen. “On the other hand, I find that collaboration can yield great growth results, too. Which one is better depends entirely on the situation, the people, the company, even the time of the year.”

A growth strategy rooted in relationships

While others might rely on elaborate marketing strategies, Cohen continues to lean primarily on organic growth fostered through genuine relationships.

“Even now, we’re not using sponsored searches for SEO,” he says, signaling his preference for grassroots methods rather than paid ad campaigns. “Today, I’m focusing a lot more attention on interviews, speaking engagements, and collaborations with non-profits.”

Cohen sees growth as a phased process. “I’d say Opn Communication has shown rapid growth, but I’d also say that rapid growth is perceived differently by everyone,” he explains. “I’ve had phases where I’m so busy I don’t know what to do, and others where I’m trying to figure out how to speed things up. But growth never comes easy.”

No matter how companies choose to perceive their growth, Cohen’s advice for aspiring entrepreneurs is crystal clear. “Believe in your company and don’t give up. Slow and steady can evolve into rapid growth. Sometimes, sustainable progress is born out of persistence, and that creates a far more stable foundation for the future.”

Plans to continue Opn Communication’s growth

Even with new opportunities on the horizon, Cohen stays grounded in his principles of simplicity and organic growth. “Growth isn’t about gimmicks — it’s about quality connections, persistence, and passion for what you’re building,” Cohen says.

Cohen’s story is one of grit, adaptability, and human connection. By leveraging global partnerships, he transformed Opn Communication into a service provider that thrives across industries and borders. Each move he made — from landing government contracts to working with cable companies — stemmed from the authentic relationships he cultivated.

Bryan Cohen reminds aspiring entrepreneurs of one extremely critical lesson. The road to scalable growth is not always rapid, nor is it without challenges. But through steady persistence and strategic choices, success becomes both attainable and sustainable. Whether competing in a crowded market or seeking collaboration across industries, Cohen demonstrates that the key to growth is staying nimble, staying true, and letting your work speak for itself.
