Unfortunately, not many people speak positively about their work. In this day and age, the workplace is mostly associated with stress and the plain, sterile office environment. Such an atmosphere is definitely counterproductive when it comes to the employees’ creativity and happiness, as well as the success of the whole company. Luckily, some businesses have already started making adequate changes in the layout and appearance of workplace in order to make the working hours as productive and pleasurable as possible. Several ideas have proved to work extremely well for this futuristic office design.
Desk innovations
The usual desk layout, where every employee has one assigned place to sit and stare into the monitor all day is definitely not something that fosters creativity or team spirit. Therefore, many companies have decided to play around with seating arrangements and results are more than inspiring. Some chose to go for the so called hot-desking trend involving the freedom of every employee to sit wherever they want, be it a real desk or a couch. Some opted for one large superdesk, others decided to go with desk overlap zones. All these changes in seating arrangements led to a more positive environment at the office, and more chances to interact with colleagues and team members, which significantly boosted their productivity and creativity.
Indoor nature
The more natural light there is in the office, the more productive workers are said to be. There are many studies that confirm the positive influence of natural light in the office, as well as a lot of greenery. Plants and flowers around the office purify the air and reduce noise, but they also serve as a de-stress technique thanks to their soothing appearance. Some companies went a step further and decided to introduce vertical gardens into their offices, which significantly improved the creative skills of the employees. Moreover, living green walls are a great way to assist the environment.
Bright colors
There has been a proven link between the productivity and creativity of the employees and specific hues of bright shades on the color wheel. Plain colors such as white and even gray could be found in many modern offices today, but actually, it is the hues of red, green, yellow and blue that make all the difference. Depending on the type of work the company deals with, different colors and their shades can be used to brighten up the look of the office. Working in such an environment can relax the employees, make them feel at ease, relieve stress and encourage them to brainstorm better than ever.
Work break rooms
Sitting all the time while at work is definitely unhealthy, and it hinders the productivity over time, no matter how innovative the desk arrangements are. Therefore, some companies deemed it necessary to introduce homey and comfy commercial fitout to their offices. This kind of break room provides the workers with a good place to relax and rest, put their mind at ease and that way think up some new ideas and solutions to work-related issues. Moreover, these usually come equipped with healthy foods and drinks, which are necessary for the employees’ general well-being. As an additional benefit, break areas allow the employees to interact with one another on a more personal level and that way improve their relationships at work.
Keeping in mind what’s best for the employees, and doing your part as an employer to accommodate them, means doing your best for your business as well. Satisfied and happy workers have more energy to work and create, which is the moving force behind any successful company, big or small.
