Blogs can attract prospective clients for freelance writers. If you have SEO or search engine optimization skills, you can even do better by improving the rank of your website. Sadly, not many writers have discovered this free advertising strategy. Blogging is crucial when it comes to finding and keeping prospective clients.

Some freelancers start blogging because they like the idea. They see it as a way to make passive income. USEssayWriters believe that a freelance writer can make more from using a blog, not just passive income. Thinking about blogging in his way can set it up for failure before it even kicks off.

While it is true that passive income comes from blogging, the income doesn’t come easily. It takes a lot of time to generate something. No one can determine how fast it will be. However, this doesn’t mean that it cannot be profitable. As long as you are diligent, you will see results.

Here are some tips for creating a blog for freelance business:

1. Choose Your Domain Name

The name of the website must represent the business. It wouldn’t make sense to use a name that would portray your services in a different light. For instance, since you are hoping to attract potential clients, you should choose a name that represents what you do. Using Femmewriters.com is better than using markandwalsh.com. The first name gives a hint about what you do. The latter could pass for a law firm or agency which would be bad for business. Using your name is not necessarily a bad idea, but if you aren’t already established, it could be counterproductive.

Also, you need to consider the domain country. You have the option of choosing a local domain name or using a global domain name. The difference between the two is found in the last part of your proposed blog name. For instance, femmewriters.uk is a local domain name that implies that you serve a UK audience. While this isn’t a problem for freelance writers who want to serve a particular demographic, it could be problematic when you have to expand your services.

Before choosing a domain name for the site, consider these tips:

1. Choose names that are easy to spell

2. Avoid using long names as they may be difficult to remember.

3. If you aren’t sure about what to use, then use your name, if it is available. To make it easier for people to identify your business, you can add a variation of your name with descriptions such as blogging, writer, content, and more.

4. Ensure that the names are the same all over social media. It may be counterproductive to use different names on both platforms. It comes in handy when potential clients search your blog name and find all your social media at the same time to contact you easily.

2. Choose Your Blogging Platform

After picking a name, the next step will be to find a blogging platform to use. Most experts in the business would recommend a WordPress site which is usually self-hosted. As a WordPress blog owner, you get to control your content as well as your monetization strategy. To offer freelance writing services, a self-hosted site is the best bet.

It allows you to look professional and credible. The other options, aside from a WordPress site, include Wix or Squarespace. With your self-hosted site, you can always find answers to your questions in the community. When it comes to customization of the site, you have the freedom to choose your themes and plugins for the best result.

So choose a blogging platform and then make arrangement to host the site.

3. Pick a hosting plan

This next step is to pick a suitable hosting plan. Lots of companies offer this service. You can find some that offer three different plans, such as starter, premium, and eCommerce plans. As a freelancer who wants a blog for business, you should choose the starter package. With it, you will get a lot of templates to choose from, website analytics, and more.

4. Add content to your website.

After hosting the site, you can start to add content. Even if you are not familiar with WordPress, you can use it easily to add, edit, and publish posts.

The best part is that you do not need to have coding knowledge to use it. You can also customize it with ease. If you have any issues, you can always search online for ways to troubleshoot the problem.

5. Promote your blog

That is the fun part. Your prospective clients will not be able to find you unless you let them know about what you do. You can also do it for free on social media.

Start with your bio. It would be difficult for prospects to know what you do if you don’t include it your bio. Do this for Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Also, you can occasionally post some of your work for your followers.

With these simple tips, you can create a successful blog for your freelance business.
