Working with your team from a distance might present its own set of obstacles. Along with the numerous advantages that working with a remote team can provide you – from finding the best candidate for the job by removing location from the job description to better focus, fewer sick days, and increased productivity – there may be obstacles and issues that arise from time to time that can result in a lack of incentive and probable crossed wires.
This is normal; even the most well-organized remote team might encounter problems from time to time, no matter how well-designed the system is.
If you are looking for ways to increase enthusiasm among your remote team of employees, we have some suggestions to keep your team working productively and motivated despite the fact that they are not physically present with you.
Demonstrate your gratitude
Positive enforcement is well-received by all parties involved. Working from home or in a remote location can be isolating and monotonous if done on a daily basis. Some people enjoy the feeling of being alone, but others may find it difficult to cope with the lack of social opportunities that remote working might provide.
Maintain a generous flow of compliments and search for opportunities to raise morale frequently as you check in with your team and emphasize how well things are doing.
Recognize and reward employees whose activities have benefited your company, such as meeting sales targets. What do you think about selecting gifts for your employees? Sending physical items such as gift cards for employees as a thank you, holiday gift, or as a reward for meeting goals is completely legal and has no negative consequences for your organization.
Checking in on a regular basis
Even though your team is competent at getting on with their work, this does not rule out the possibility of communicating with them. People will eventually lose sight of why they are doing what they are doing if they are unable to recognize the good that they are accomplishing. Working together to discuss work, challenges, new ideas, and even just to say hello can be a great morale booster and help your team stay on track.
Don’t micromanage
In most circumstances, remote workers benefit from the freedom this offers them, and they are willing to put in long hours over the course of a week to compensate for this. Having faith in your team, knowing that they know what they are doing and do not require direction, can assist you in reaping the benefits. Keep an eye on individuals who routinely underperform so that you may check in with them more frequently and see whether they are experiencing any issues that are preventing them from performing as well as they would otherwise be at the workplace.
Show them you recognize their input
We all require a pick-me-up from time to time. Everything about this is perfectly normal and there is nothing to be concerned about. Examine the possibility of producing a visual scoreboard or anything you can look at to show them how well they are doing and to give them a target to achieve. Finding out where they are doing well and where there may be areas where they need to improve can make a huge difference.
To motivate your employees, appeal to their inner competitiveness. Also, remember to update your charts or spreadsheets on a regular basis to account for all of their labor so that they have a visible depiction of their work.
