The organisms living in the saltwater of a sea or an ocean are referred to as marine life. Marine Life is also known as sealife and oceanlife. It includes animals, plants, and other microbes.
Marine life is the largest ecosystem on Earth. According to research, about 71 percent of the earth is covered with water and 97 percent of water of the earth is found in the oceans. Moreover, about one million species of organisms live in the ocean.
Oceans are an important source of food. Crabs, lobsters, and thousands of species of fish are eaten all over the world. Moreover, certain organisms produce pearls that are used in ornaments. It is, therefore, our duty to protect the oceans and the organisms living inside.
Here we will discuss some points for the protection of sea life.
Use Ocean Friendly Products
Many people use corals, shells of crabs, conch, sea horses, sponges, jellyfish, pearls, and many other marine animals to make beauty products, gifts, and jewelry. Do not try to buy those products that are harmful to marine life. Instead of these, you can go for eco-friendly brands.
Reduce Energy Consumption
Saving energy is the best way to keep the climate healthy. Do not let the lights or television on if you are leaving the room. Also, try to ride a bike, use public transport or walk instead of driving your car. Control the thermostat. Moreover, do not burn fossil fuels because they make the oceans acidic. Furthermore, plant more trees so that more oxygen can be produced.
Avoid the Usage of Plastic
The most harmful things for marine life are plastic products. Actually, the floating plastic can be eaten up by sea animals, and it blocks their stomach. Hence, it causes death. Stop using plastic because it takes hundreds of years to get decomposed. Bound yourself to use environmentally friendly products. Use the products that can be re-used and recycled.
Clean up the Beach
Whenever you visit the beach, always remember to clean up before you leave. You can explore, enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the sea, but you have not any right to damage this largest ecosystem.
Organize Beach Cleaning Activities
We must keep our living area clean. You can arrange the beach cleaning activities or may participate in such activities. Moreover, it is really important to educate people regarding cleanliness. Share the awareness with your friends, family and communities.
Reduce Pollutants
It is beyond any doubt that certain industries have chemicals as their backbone. Chemical waste, however, is so dangerous for living beings of all kinds. Therefore, it is our moral duty to follow the standard protocols regarding waste disposal. These processes detoxify the waste before it is disposed of into the water bodies.
Avoid Mixing of Dirty and Clean Water
The pollutant water of factories and houses must be dumped properly in specific areas. Do not let the dirty water mix with the clean water of the ocean. It will save marine life. Otherwise, the polluted water will damage the sea organisms. Moreover, most of the population of the world eats seafood. So, eating that contaminated food can also risk human life.
Hence, everyone must understand the responsibilities and keep the oceans clean and healthy.
