Built for hospitals, billing companies, and medical practices, Prosper AI is emerging as the voice infrastructure for patient access and revenue cycle management

Prosper_Logo_White_Red

New York City, NY – September 23, 2025; A third of the workforce in US hospitals and physician offices is administrative staff, a cost that tops $450 billion annually. The system depends on armies of people answering phones, calling insurers, and chasing claims. Patients wait, providers lose appointments, and teams spend almost as much on billing work as they do on care. Healthcare voice AI platform Prosper AI is changing that equation.

The company today announced $5 million in seed funding to accelerate its voice AI platform, which builds specialized AI agents for healthcare’s most critical front and back-office workflows. The round was led by Emergence Capital, the first backers of Salesforce, Veeva, and Doximity, with participation from Y Combinator, CRV, and Company Ventures.

Prosper AI agents are executing hundreds of thousands of calls, working with industry leaders such as a Providence-affiliated hospital (125,000 employees), a Fortune 50 pharmaceutical hub, a 30,000-employee medical billing company serving Top 10 US Health systems or a leading Electronic Health Record system with +100,000 medical providers.

The measurable impact across clients has fueled Prosper’s rapid growth, with revenue climbing 4x since Q2 2025 alone.

Prosper AI builds AI voice agents that speak like humans, connect directly into practice management software, and handle tasks from patient scheduling and billing to insurance benefit verification and prior authorizations. Unlike generic voice AI tools, Prosper’s agents are healthcare-specialized, with deep EHR integrations and battle-tested blueprints for both patient-facing and back-office workflows. They can skip IVR menus, wait on hold with insurers, extract information in minutes, and transfer calls to staff when necessary.

Cofounders Josep Mingot and Xavier de Gracia met in Boston while studying at MIT and Harvard. In 2023, they founded Prosper, applying their expertise in call centers and regulated industries to tackle one of today’s most pressing challenges: improving access to healthcare. “Our mission is to unlock universal access to care by empowering healthcare organizations to achieve unprecedented efficiency with AI Agents”, said Xavier de Gracia, co-founder of Prosper AI.

At Synergy Healthcare Associates, a leading multispecialty group, Prosper automates over 50% of front desk calls, from scheduling to waitlist management, with expansion underway into benefits and claims. “Prosper has redefined how our call center runs by simplifying intricate processes, shortening patient wait times and boosting efficiency, all the while sounding very human,” said Nathan Woelfel, COO at Synergy Healthcare Associates. “The team’s ability to deliver at speed, and customize to our needs has been incredible.”

Prosper AI serves a wide range of healthcare organizations, including health systems, billing companies, healthtech vendors, insurers and pharma hubs. With Prosper AI, these organizations gain a single partner for battle-tested AI voice agents built for healthcare front and back office use cases alongside a flexible voice platform that can be tailored to any custom need. Every deployed agent is adapted to the workflows, SOPs, and integrations of the client.

Unlike generic AI voice solutions, Prosper AI’s platform is engineered specifically for healthcare enterprises, offering:

For patient phone calls:

  • Automated scheduling, billing inquiries, and follow-up workflows
  • 50-70% automation rate for inbound patient calls
  • Reduced call center strain and improved patient satisfaction

For payor phone calls:

  • Benefits verification, prior authorizations and claims follow-ups phone calls
  • 99% accuracy in navigating payer IVRs and extracting information
  • Sub-2-hour turnaround for complex payer interactions

Every deployment is customized to each organization’s specific workflows, standard operating procedures, and existing technology stack, ensuring seamless integration and immediate value.

“Xavier and Josep have achieved remarkable enterprise traction by building battle-tested AI voice agents specifically for healthcare’s complex requirements.” said Jake Saper, General Partner at Emergence Capital. “They’re creating the most sophisticated voice AI platform to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable at scale”.

Looking ahead, Prosper plans to extend beyond voice into a broader AI workforce for healthcare, with AI Agents already being trained to read faxes, connect to APIs, and take actions directly in EHR systems. The company’s vision is clear: to become the AI Workforce for healthcare organizations, eliminating waste and unlocking the resources needed to provide universal healthcare.

Prosper AI background

By Xavier de Gracia, Co-Founder at Prosper AI

What is the company’s origin story? What’s interesting about this business model?

Xavier was VP of Operations and Support at a tech marketplace, managing 1,000+ employees across the Philippines and India. In 2023, he teamed up with Josep, a friend from their Harvard and MIT days, to launch Prosper with a mission to automate customer support over email, text, and phone using AI.

One of their first clients was a medical billing company running massive call centers for U.S. health systems, handling calls to patients and insurance companies. After landing customers across several industries, they realized that healthcare’s massive administrative burden had the biggest opportunity to be streamlined and reduced with AI. In order to achieve this, they had to fully focus on building custom solutions for the industry. Mainly:

  • Battle-tested front and back-office phone call use cases (scheduling, benefits and billing)
  • Safe, high-quality AI grounded in the organization’s data with guardrails
  • Pay per outcome, so that customers only pay if the goal of the AI Agent is achieved

To grow their initial customer base, Josep and Xavier attended a Conference that had 3,000 people in a Casino in Las Vegas, and to stand out, we created hundreds of casino chips with our logo on one side and on the other a QR code to speak to our AI Agent and get into a raffle. We left the chips everywhere in the conference: in each of the tables of the conference rooms, the chair, the lunch area and the exhibit hall. We had +100 leads generated in the conference through this, everyone was wondering who was Prosper and that’s how we got our first customers

What’s interesting about the business model:

  • Prosper usually enters organizations with one of the AI Agent Blueprints, one of our battle-tested use cases, and then start asking us for many more use cases. We build with our customers, and help them deploy AI Voice Agents across the organization to deliver better experiences and cost savings. We become their AI partners to deploy AI Agents.
  • One of the most interesting parts is that we are pioneering outcome-based AI: you pay only when the work gets done. If for some reason it fails, the customer does not pay. No seats, no licenses, just results. We are among the first to drive this trend forward and we believe it provides the best incentives and alignment with our customers.

What kind of challenges are you solving? What is the traditional approach and how are you improving on that?

Healthcare providers face a perfect storm of rising administrative costs and worsening staffing shortages. Today, over 30% of the workforce in hospitals and physician offices is administrative staff, costing more than $450B annually. Much of that work still runs on phone calls, patients calling for scheduling or billing questions, and staff calling insurers to verify benefits, request prior authorizations, or chase down denied claims. The traditional fixes (larger call centers, outsourcing to BPOs, or IVR phone trees) are costly, inconsistent, and leave patients frustrated. And every missed or delayed call is a lost patient and lost revenue.

Prosper changes this. Our AI Voice Agents integrate directly into EHRs and revenue cycle systems to handle thousands of these calls end-to-end: scheduling appointments, verifying benefits in hours at half the cost, running authorizations, and staying on top of claims. The result is Patients get answers fast, providers reduce staffing headaches, and the whole experience feels smoother and more reliable.

Please explain the company’s core product and/or service offering. What does it do and who’s it for? How’s it differentiated from what’s already out there?

At Prosper we build AI Voice agents for healthcare Patient Access and RCM. Our AI agents speak like a human with patients for tasks such as Appointments, Billing questions and reminders around pre-post procedure needs. In the back-office we automate administrative phone calls from the medical practice to the insurance companies for tasks such as Benefits Verification, Prior Authorization and Claim statusing.

The Voice AI Agents speak like humans and can speak to patients about complex conversations to deep integrations with practice management software. When calling insurance companies, we skip Phone Trees, wait on hold, and speak with insurance agents on the phone to get the right information. In case of a need to transfer to a human, Prosper transfers the call to the clients preferred staff to handle it from there.

ProsperAI’s Voice Agents are being used by healthcare providers and their vendors, such as medical billing companies, practice management softwares and even insurance companies are now requesting to use the technology.

We differentiate from others because we have specialized in healthcare, which means we have:

  1. Battle-tested front and back-office phone call use cases (scheduling, benefits and billing)
  2. Safe, high-quality AI grounded on the organization’s data with guardrails
  3. Pay per outcome, so that customers only pay if the goal of the AI Agent is achieved

Can you give me some use cases of how people or businesses can / have benefited from Prosper AI?.

Prosper partners with Healthcare organizations to deploy AI Agents for common use cases and works with them to customize the agents.

The most common use cases deployed across Prosper AI’s customer base include:

  • For patient phone calls:
    • Automated scheduling, billing inquiries, and follow-up workflows
    • 50-70% automation rate for inbound patient calls
    • Reduced call center strain and improved patient satisfaction

  • For payor phone calls:
    • Benefits verification, prior authorizations and claims follow-ups phone calls
    • 99% accuracy in navigating payer IVRs and extracting information
    • Sub-2-hour turnaround for complex payer interactions

Prosper AI agents are executing hundreds of thousands of calls, working with industry leaders such as a Providence-affiliated hospital (125,000 employees), a Fortune 50 pharmaceutical hub, a 30,000-employee medical billing company serving Top 10 US Health systems or a leading Electronic Health Record system with +100,000 medical providers.

The measurable impact across clients has fueled Prosper’s rapid growth, with revenue climbing 4x since Q2 2025 alone.

For example, Prosper works with Synergy Health Associates, a physician group with 11 locations in Texas, by automating their front desk operations, such as appointment scheduling and waitlist management. Prosper now handles over 50% of calls and expands to benefits and claims.

With a Hospital part of Providence (+125,000 employees), Prosper is working on both Front-office and back-office AI Agents. We handle thousands of calls, including being the front line for anyone who calls to the hospital.

With Firstsource (NSE: FSL), a publicly listed major medical billing company with over 30,000 employees ($3B market cap), Prosper is being used as the main Ai Voice agent platform for Healthcare, with +3 different types of agents currently deployed or being developed. Firstsource customers are top 10 Health Systems with +100,000 employees. [You can see here we are listed with Salesforce amongst others → Who we are → Partner Network → 3rd Page]

With a Medical Lab processing over 500,000 patients a year, Prosper has recovered +$100,000 from insurance companies by processing a backlog of submitted claims and now is processing thousands of claims a month with Voice AI Agents.

How many employees does the company have? How many does it expect to have by the end of the year?

We follow a “bar-raiser” philosophy, hiring only for excellence. Our 15-person team includes graduates and researchers from Harvard, MIT, and Cambridge; National Math Olympiad medalists; top 1% engineering graduates with double degrees; and alumni of leading startups and firms like Bain and BCG.

We expect to grow to 25+ employees by year-end. Current hiring focuses on Engineering (ML and Forward Deploy Engineers) and Sales Account Executives in our NYC office.

How much total funding have you got so far?

$5M from Emergence Capital (first investors in Salesforce, Zoom, Doximity and Veeva), Y Combinator (Airbnb, Coinbase), CRV (Airtable, Doordash) and Company Ventures (Centivo, Stepful), who are specialized in healthcare incubation.

What’s the company’s annual recurring revenue? Projected annual recurring revenue? Gross margin profile? Operating cash flow results?

In the last 3 months since Q2 2025 we’ve 4x our revenue after signing several enterprise level deals with leading healthcare medical billing companies and providers.

How many customers does the company have? How many users?

Our technology serves Healthcare providers and their vendors to automate phone calls that happen with Patients and Insurance companies. We have 15 customers, representing a total +200,000 providers. Some of the largest Medical billing companies in the country are our customers. We also work with Health Systems, Medical practices, and Pharma Hubs.

Which companies do you consider your closest competitors? How do you differentiate?

There are a few players in the space tackling pieces of the problem, companies like AssortHealth, Infinitus, and Outbound AI, each focusing on specific use cases. But our view is that to truly solve the challenges healthcare providers face, you can’t just handle one slice of the workflow. Front-office issues like scheduling, intake, and patient communication are tightly linked to back-office processes like eligibility, claims, and authorizations. If you don’t connect both, you’re only solving half the problem.

That’s where we’re different. We’re the only platform built to cover the full spectrum of healthcare voice automation (front and back office) on a single system. That means we can coordinate the entire patient experience end-to-end, from the first call to the final claim, instead of stitching together point solutions. The result is a unified, seamless approach that improves patient satisfaction, reduces administrative strain, and drives real ROI for providers.

What are key, major challenges that the company’s industry faces?

Healthcare faces a perfect storm: more than $450B is wasted annually on administrative work, a figure that keeps climbing, while post-Covid staffing shortages make it harder than ever for hospitals and physician offices to keep up. The result is rising costs and declining care. Prosper is solving this by automating phone-based admin work with AI.

In the future, how do you plan to expand your platform?

Our vision is to build the AI workforce for healthcare, making care affordable. We began with AI Voice Agents, and our agents now read faxes, connect to APIs, and take action in EHRs. The future is AI workers handling administrative tasks end-to-end.
