During the past few years, BrewDog has quickly become one of the most popular breweries in the world. Led by James Watt, BrewDog has completely changed the way beer is brewed. This is a brewery that is responsible for some of the biggest innovations and most popular lines of beer in the world. Clearly, James Watt has a lot to be proud of, and his success has inspired a lot of other people to follow in his footsteps. Now, he is looking for a way to get back, and he recently announced that he is planning on giving away approximately 20 percent of his stake in the brewery to his staff.

A Generous Donation To His Staff

Even though James Watt has been the driving force behind BrewDog, he understands that he could not have done this alone. By hiring the right people, treating them with compassion, and giving them the benefit they deserve, Watt has inspired his staff members to stick around, which has fueled the success of the company. By reducing employee turnover and placing the focus on employee well-being, employees have been inspired to work harder, making it easier for the brewery to meet the needs of its customers. Now, Watt knows that it is time for his employees to enjoy the success as well.

Annual Payouts Can Give Employees More Flexibility

Even though the value of the company can change from year to year, providing employees with a stake in the company can give them more flexibility. Particularly with economic difficulties all over the world, the extra money can go a long way. There are different ways to provide employees with a stake in the company, but one option is to provide them with annual cash bonuses. Based on the success of the company, this could amount to cash bonuses that are a few thousand pounds every year. This extra money can make it easier for staff members to cover unexpected expenses that arise during the course of the year.

Watt Holds About a Quarter of the Company

It is also important to note that James Watt does not hold the entirety of the company. He holds approximately a quarter of the company, and he plans to give away approximately 20 percent of what he holds. If the plan goes through, this would mean that the employees would be responsible for holding about five percent of the total BrewDog brewery. This also means that the employees would have a greater voice in the direction of the company, which can be important for the future of the business.

Giving the Employees a Voice

Ultimately, for James Watt, it is about giving back to the employees who have helped him find success along the way. By giving his employees a voice and showing them a greater appreciation for the hard work they have done, Watt can create a positive company culture that will make it easier for the brewery to meet the needs of its customers. The end result could be that the people who have fallen in love with BrewDog beer can enjoy an even better product moving forward.
