Are you familiar with the term “hot desking”? Hot desking refers to an area of the workplace or an entire office where employees can pick any desk they want. The purpose is typically designed with space utilization in mind. Yet, hot desking can also be crucial to creating a collaborative creative zone, a space where employees get together to exchange ideas and progress.

So, what does the right hot desking setting look like?

Typically, you can expect to find large communal tables or bar height tables fitted for groups of 4 or more, depending on size. Rather than individual desk tables, these combos ensure that people who need to work together on a specific project can sit together.

Teamwork concept

You will also need to consider transportable equipment, such as focusing on laptops rather than desktops. Other settings, such as printers, could be accessible via BlueTooth or WiFi to reduce wiring presence.

Ideally, you may also want to add brainstorming support, such as a blackboard or whiteboard, notebooks, and projectors.

But as you create a collaborative area, you may wonder how it can benefit your business. A cooperative, creative zone can transform a stagnant business by injecting new ideas into it.

#1. A safe area to think

Thinking is one of the most commonly overlooked activities in the office. Indeed, the business culture values doing over thinking. Why? Because showing that you are busy can appear like being productive. In reality, doing and thinking are two different things. Unfortunately, thinking can appear inactive, so employees often feel compelled to tackle work without engaging their creative thinking. Creating a designated area where people are allowed to share a table and put their heads together without being accused of wasting time can considerably transform things. After all, you can’t unlock the next generation’s innovation without putting in the time to think!

#2. A spot for long-term planning

Whether you are creating a blog or launching a new product, you need to prepare for long-term planning. Long-term planning considers:

  • The efforts needed to create a sustainable strategy
  • The schedule for activities
  • The list of skills required
  • The budget to finance your activities

Therefore, it makes sense to involve a variety of professional brains and expertise to figure out the best course of action. Unfortunately, more often than not, plans fail because they lack essential insight. Therefore, a collaborative area ensures you can gather opinions, knowledge, and information from all the required parties.

#3. Enhanced team building

People who work well together tend to stay with the same company. Sharing a series of successful projects encourages trust and friendships. However, the typical single desk setting in an office can make it tough for employees to get to know each other and exchange skills.

Introducing an area where people can sit together regardless of their team or service and contribute to a common project can be a game-changing strategy for companies struggling with business culture. As experts from different backgrounds can establish new connections, they can elevate the business culture and create a sense of togetherness.

Are you ready to bring collaboration to the heart of your office? A cozy and friendly space where people can sit together, exchange thoughts, share knowledge, and construct sustainable strategies can transform your business. Unlock your potential with a collaborative creative zone.
