Law Enforcement security dogs

With the rise in crimes in the UK, it is natural for British home and business owners to feel apprehensive about their safety. Many owners place protection dogs in their homes to ease their concerns. Protection dogs can deter most intruders from your property and keep you and your assets safe.

However, many people are reluctant to purchase a protection dog because they have a bad reputation for being aggressive. Naturally, people don’t want to put themselves and their families at risk by placing a fierce animal in their vicinity. But in reality, this assumption is inaccurate.

Protection dogs are so named because they protect their master with incredible loyalty. These breeds of dogs are born with the instinct to protect their own, and once they learn to consider your family as their pack, they will protect them at all costs. These security dogs would otherwise be devoted and loving to the families they serve.

You will be thankful to have such a loyal and brave protector in your home if god-forbids an armed intruder tries to break in. Here is a list of a few British breeds with their features and costs.

Giant Schnauzer

The most unusual choice for a security dog is the Giant Schnauzer. They look loveable and kind. Their curls make them look similar to a poodle, a companion breed and not ideal for protecting the home. But, a giant schnauzer is loyal and fearless in personality.

They are bred for protection purposes. However, some training is necessary to overcome their jealous trait; otherwise, it can lead to problems down the road.

It is not expensive to buy a well-bred dog of this breed. It costs around £700 – £1200 by trusted breeders. Since this is a premium dog and large size, you might need to spend about £60 every month feeding it.

Boxer

This german short-haired breed is well-known around the world for the unique look of its veneers. A boxer hound has a large build with a fearsome look. Whatever their looks are, they are very gentle dogs when interacting with their master. They can even sense beforehand if someone is approaching you with malicious intent. That is why they are ideal for guarding your kids.

The price of a boxer will depend on the physical features like the coat colour and bloodline of the dog. Hence, a Boxer puppy can cost around £400–£1,500.

Rottweiler

There are several videos on social media with the dogs of this breed protecting babies. These videos will tell you a lot about their fierce loyalty. If you want to purchase a rottweiler for your home, you must spend a lot of time taming its aggressive nature through training. The average price of owning a rottweiler in the UK is about £600 but can go up to £1500 depending on quality.

Doberman pinscher

The Doberman breed is originated in Germany. It has a lean body with a long neck, which makes it look unique. They can run very fast and have a lot of stamina to chase after fleeing thieves. This can make them formidable security dogs. The price of an elite-class Doberman is as high as £3000.

German shepherd

Previously called Alsatian in the UK, the German shepherd is presently called GSD in popular words. Because of its loyalty, strength, and ease of training, the GSD is an excellent choice for a security dog. A reputable breeder will charge around £500 for a German shepherd puppy. The GSD is the most recommended guard dog by Security Company in Essex.

Conclusion

It is best to choose a breed that can suit your family size and your budget. Always look for reputable breeders and research beforehand on how to train your dog as a puppy. Hope this guide has helped to narrow down your choice of security dogs.
