The start of the pandemic has unfortunately decreased the employment rate since 2020. With many businesses being closed down or affected by unexpected situations, many people have lost their jobs. Your business might have been affected as well, and as a result, you have had to let go of several employees to save your company.

Today, we are living in the new normal and finally trying to get back on track. If you think you’ll be needing more people to bring into the team, you may contact old employees to work for you again. However, if they have already found other jobs, you’ll need to hire a new set of creative talents for your business. But you don’t have to worry because there are many ways for you to do that. Here are some tips:

1. Take advantage of social media

In 2020, it was recorded that 3.6 billion people were using social media worldwide. And it is expected to increase as the years go by. Many companies use social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and even Tiktok to promote their businesses. But apart from marketing your business online, you may use these channels to find the right fit for your team. You can use your business page to post job vacancies or join groups that focus on freelancing jobs or recruitment.

2. Utilize online career sites

Most businesses turn to career sites and job boards first above anything else online. These are the places where you can indeed find people who are looking for a job. Turn to trusted websites like UpWork and Experlio for a more convenient search. On the Experlio website, you can learn more about creative talents and find the best candidate to add to your team. You can also post job opportunities and add challenges to engage with them on a deeper level. From marketing to design, you’ll be able to find a pool of talent and meet skillful individuals in no time.

3. Manage employee referral programs

If you think you did your best to create a work-life balance in your company and have a great working relationship with your team, you can try managing employee referral programs for them. Treat them like your brand ambassadors and allow them to bring in people that they think could fit the job. You can offer cash incentives and recognition to motivate them to invite creative people to your business. Employee referrals are known to boost employee retention, too.

4. Expand your network

Just like how you want your business to reach more customers and increase brand awareness, expanding your networking could also help you meet new talented people whom you can work with in the future. With the current restrictions and protocols, you can start by attending webinars and online conferences. Another way to do that is to update your LinkedIn profile and boost your presence. This is a platform where you can connect with other professionals and organizations who can help you with your search.

5. Provide attractive benefits

Some small businesses may seem to be overlooked by most job seekers. Who doesn’t want to work with the top companies, right? But you can go over the edge by offering attractive benefits that could attract quality candidates. There are a variety of perks you can provide to them, such as life insurance, wellness programs, and retirement benefits.

Nowadays, many job seekers, especially millennials and Gen Zs, are looking for flexible working hours. They find it as an important factor to every job opportunity. If this is not possible for your business, you can offer them vacation time and work-from-home options.

Conclusion

Many businesses struggle to obtain the best talents as they can make or break their company, so it is crucial to look for the right fit. However, we may sometimes set our expectations too high.

With creativity being a skill, it is important to remember that you don’t need someone who already knows all the processes. You need to choose someone who is willing to learn and understand every detail of your business. In finding creative talents, you must be able to emphasize your company’s goals and set clear but realistic expectations.

You may provide a list of qualifications but try to give allowance to each candidate and see how you can work together without being a perfectionist. Be patient with training them until they are able to work without supervision. Every employer wants to work with the best employees. And the best employees deserve to work with the best employers, too. Treat each of them like how you treat your customers. Remember that they are one of the most valuable assets in your business.
