Carry out a risk assessment for Covid-19
Businesses are now required to carry out risk assessments for Covid-19 in the workplace, it is still the same five-step risk assessment to follow but this is used solely for the risks to coronavirus. You need to assess whoever will be at work, what activities are being carried out, and what activities may be done in the future. Once the assessment has been carried out then you need to start making changes in the areas deemed at risk this can be done by making physical changes, administrative changes, or changes in PPE to make sure you are compliant to being Covid secure. Look into people counters to help with occupancy during COVID, allowing your business to stay safe.
Implement social distancing where possible
Since the beginning, social distancing has played a big part in trying to get this virus under control, so this is why it also needs to be implemented where possible in the workplace. It is understood that this isn’t going to be possible all the time but where it can be done it has to be, to help put this in place you can get workplace social distancing signs to put up around the workplace to make sure everyone can see they should be socially distanced and can be reminded of this. Also, make sure to have regular meetings with your staff to make sure they are reminded of what they need to be doing and how they can make sure they are doing it.
Reduce the number of people in the workplace
To help make social distancing easier in the workplace it is best to only have the essential workers you need return to the office and have others working from home where possible, this is something that can be done on rotation to make it fair and easier to manage. By reducing the number of people in the building you reduce the number of people that can get or give the virus and also make social distancing easier to do. This also can be implemented for clients and customers also, if you reduce the maximum customers allowed in you can make it easier for them to socially distance and manage them easier to make sure you reduce the potential for spreading the virus.
Introduce additional measures for hygiene and safety
As well as social distancing you need to make sure you have multiple hygiene stations that provide sanitiser and that the workplace is always thoroughly cleaned throughout at the start and end of the day. It can also be done during the day if you see it necessary, cleaning will make sure the virus does not stay on any surfaces and cause an outbreak in your workplace. You should also provide safety PPE such as gloves, masks, and face shields for staff that may be customer-facing or that are in contact with others at work – unigloves have a range of disposable PPE products available to protect you and your team. If you have a counter or service desk then installing protective screens will help to stop the spread of covid by protecting anyone behind the and the customer in front should they cough or sneeze. PPE is crucial in helping to protect your staff and anyone coming in from outside the business, therefore supplying it is extremely important and will really help in making your business Covid secure. Another way you can adapt to the challenges of COVID-19 is with Cali rapid COVID tests for corporations. A service like Drip Hydration can set up onsite testing at your business and provide results in as little as 15 minutes, helping prevent an active case from spreading
