Finding the right company swag can be daunting. Do you choose small branded tchotchkes, or do you go all out with T-shirts and tote bags? Whichever you choose, there is a lot to keep in mind when picking out the perfect swag.

When choosing your business swag, you want it to be memorable and useful. You want your brand awareness linked to useful items, not throwaway trinkets! With that in mind, take a look at some essential do’s and don’t’s of company swag!

Don’t Procrastinate

If you’re ordering company swag for corporate events, don’t procrastinate in ordering the items. Order with enough time to get all the items at least a week before the event. You don’t want to order too late and not have anything to give your employees.

Do Get Samples

Don’t just look at pictures; order samples to see what you are getting for yourself. Pictures can be staged to make the product look much better. Getting the items into your hands is the best way to ensure the product’s quality is where you want it to be.

Don’t Be Cheap

Don’t go with small, throwaway items when choosing company gifts for business events. Invest in good items that are useful to your employees or attendees. Items like lanyards, magnets, and keychains will end up in the garbage heap.

Pick items that you would use. A T-shirt or a tote bag will be well received and used beyond the corporate event. Your attendees will appreciate the more expensive items like a hoodie or notepad rather than a sticker or flimsy bracelet.

Do Consider Your Audience

Keep your audience in mind at all times when putting together your corporate swag packs! You don’t want to give a group of tech entrepreneurs the same business swag as the attendees of a writer’s convention. Some items will work for many types of events, such as notepads and tote bags; you don’t want to give a fanny pack to a conference full of accountants!

Don’t Have Too Many Cooks

Designing by committee is never a good thing. You can get ideas, sure, but when it comes to making the final decisions, it should be two or three people max. Too much input can send the project off track and delay the purchasing process.

Sometimes you feel like you need more people to keep track of the corporate swag; there are other options. There’s software like AXOMO that help you keep track of your orders. That way, you keep track of everything and still keep too many cooks out of the kitchen!

Company Swag Do’s & Don’t’s

The company swag you give out says a lot about your company. That’s why you should pick smaller, useful, and reusable items that your employees will appreciate. Think about the kind of business swag you’d like to have, and start thinking from there!
