Many business owners nowadays are concerned with finding ways to decrease the spread of germs among customers, vendors and employees. There are many excellent ways to keep people safe, such as requiring employees to wash their hands regularly, wear gloves and masks, and stay home when sick. Other methods include using automatic doors, sticking to a cleaning schedule and asking employees for input.

1. Install Automatic Systems

Door handles and shared copiers are hot spots for germs. Depending on the materials used, germs and bacteria can live for hours or even days. Installing automatic doors New York can be a great way to keep multiple people from touching the same surface. Install software on employee’s computers that allows them to scan and share documents to reduce copier use.

2. Create a Cleaning Plan

Any commonly used surfaces should be disinfected regularly to kill germs. Break rooms can harbor bacteria in all sorts of places, such as coffee pot handles, drawer handles and countertops. Cleaning wipes should be placed strategically around the workplace so that employees can sanitize an area before and after use. Make sure that employees do not neglect to clean their personal space, including keyboards, mice and the arms of their chairs.

3. Encourage Employee Input

Reducing the number of germs spread in the workplace is a team effort. Everyone will need to work together to keep themselves and others safe. Staff members should be encouraged to communicate with managers about their opinions on the safety measures being taken. Employees may come up with ideas that will make things easier for people while also ensuring their continued good health.

Protecting employees from harmful germs and bacteria does not have to be expensive or time consuming. As long as a solid plan is created and staff members understand what is expected of them, incorporating new procedures should go smoothly.
